Contact info: Christoph E. Weder, c/o SVR Ranch Consulting, Box 533 Rycroft, AB T0H 3A0 780-765-2855 - christoph@spiritviewranch.com If you are interested in improving your grazing management skills, developing a whole farm plan and/or needing technical assistance with the establishment of pastures and fencing systems the Sustainable Grazing Mentorship Program may be your answer. For $100 you can get a mentor to spend 16 hours creating grazing plans, developing systems, and helping to perform economic analysis's for your operation. The program is partly funded by the greenhouse gas mitigation program. I am available as one of the mentors for the Peace Region of Alberta and British Columbia. Our consulting services are based hands-on ranching experiences and formal training in the areas of forages and livestock management. This combined knowledge of tools, techniques and solutions are shared with our clients to enhance their farm and ranch business. On the Plant Side of the equation SVR Ranch Consulting offers services in the areas of rangeland, pasture and grazing management planning. Our grazing management principals are based upon some simple but key points. Theses are, 1) keep the grazing period short, 2) rest periods, 3) stimulation all of the plants, and 4) leaving enough grass/aftermath- back for the soil. Most often these principles become confusing when grazers are faced with different types of growing conditions and vegetation. We evaluate the situation, and present solutions using several management tools, identifying which pastures need what kind of grazing application and treatment. On the Animal Side we can help with your grazing livestock and winter nutrition management plans. We can help you develop carrying capacity and forage quality profiles for your land, which will enable you to better match your livestock to the production that your land provides. It is our goal to discuss your concerns and address them in the most efficient, inexpensive, and ecologically-sound manner. We will work with you, to collaborate land management goals and strategies with on-going support. We will also help to look at low cost feed alternatives and how they could be incorporated into your operation. Many times there are opportunities that are overlooked and yet can change the economics of livestock production immensely. Finally on the Human Side we can help to coach you to better understand beef nutrition and pasture management. We will work to help you establish your baseline cost of production and give management changes that can be made to change them. Goal setting and monitoring are big components to SVR Ranch management - they are pivotal for self monitoring and making business management changes. We do one on one consulting and group presentations. Work Experience:
