Grass and Alfalfa seed sales

Anik Alfalfa

This is a yellow blossomed Siberian variety of alfalfa, with extreme winter hardiness and pasture longevity. It was developed at the Agriculture Canada research station in Beaver Lodge and registered in 1975. If you are looking for an alfalfa variety with a 20 plus year stand expectancy Anik will meet those requirements.

Anik alfalfa is characterized by having very fine stems and leaves. Due to its growth characteristics many cattle producers claim that there are very limited issues with bloat. Seed production of Anik has been a limiting factor to its widespread use; however this said 1 lb of Anik alfalfa seed is equivalent to 2 lbs of regular alfalfa.

For more information on Anik alfalfa check out some of these interesting links or give us a call and we would be happy to share our knowledge with you. We expect our current crop cleaned and available for sale by mid January.

Anik Alfalfa the key to longevity of pastures

Meadow Brome & Creeping Red Fescue

Last year, through our connections with the grass seed business we were able to move several hundred thousand pounds of Meadow Brome and Creeping Red fescue into Saskatchewan and Eastern Alberta. This was a tremendous opportunity for ranchers to save on forage stand establishment. It brought grass seed delivered to central points, with incredible savings because we have no Seed Company involved.

We will start delivering seed again at the end of March. If you are in the need for Meadow Brome and/or creeping Red fescue please give us a call.
